Bulgarian F-16 Fighter Jets Perform Training Flights at Vasil Levski Airport
AKP Phnom Penh, March 11, 2026 —
Bulgarian multi-role F-16 fighter jets conducted training flights at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport, the Ministry of Defence announced on Tuesday. The Ministry explained that the purpose of the flights was to prepare the flight crews for performing tasks with an approach for landing at civilian airports from the territory of Bulgaria.
The crews carried out scheduled flight activity with low-level overflights, both single and in pairs, over the civil airport in the capital. The Ministry said that the flights are entirely for the needs of the Bulgarian Air Force and are not related to the events in the Middle East.
In December 2025, the first eight Bulgarian F-16 Block 70 fighters were presented at an official ceremony at Graf Ignatievo Air Base.
