Two Chinese Suspects Put on Pre-Trial Detention
AKP Phnom Penh, February 28, 2026 --
The Investigating Judge Sar Samnang of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court issued two separate detention orders placing two Chinese suspects in pre-trial detention in connection with an aggravated fraud case involving organised online scams conducted in Phnom Penh, according to the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS).
The two accused, is Wang Zongqing and Liu Dinghua, were ordered to be temporarily detained at Correctional Centre 1 in accordance with Cambodian law.
Both suspects have been placed under judicial investigation for aggravated fraud committed by an organised group.
The alleged offenses took place at House No. 02-087, Borey Elysee, village 14, Tonle Bassac commune, Chamkar Mon district, Phnom Penh.
According to a report from the Ministry of Justice, Cambodian courts have been actively enforcing legal procedures in cases related to online fraud, prosecuting more than 500 ringleaders and accomplices.
The high-profile cases were including Chen Zi and Okhna Ly Kuong, as well as other major cases involving foreign masterminds.
