AKP Phnom Penh, February 28, 2026 —

In a major humanitarian effort, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Vice-Chairperson of the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA), led a large-scale medical mission to provide free healthcare to nearly 4,000 residents across Kampong Speu province.

The initiative took place on Feb. 28 morning, at the Bun Rany Hun Sen Chanthnal High School in Samaky Monichey district. 

The mission brought essential medical services directly to vulnerable communities, benefiting citizens from Samaky Monichey, Thpong, Oral districts, and Oudong Mae Chey city.

Addressing the attendees, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony highlighted the enduring commitment of Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Cambodian Red Cross President Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen to the well-being of the Cambodian people. 

She emphasised that the TYDA mission reflects a consistent prioritisation of public health, ensuring that even those with severe conditions receive referrals to major hospitals in Phnom Penh with full financial and logistical support.

The First Lady outlined the association’s core objectives: Collaborating with the Ministry of Health to deliver high-quality healthcare to all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, Colour, or political affiliation; Supporting the Royal Government’s mission to reduce poverty by deploying medical teams to underprivileged and remote rural areas; Training the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing students and young volunteers with hands-on experience in humanitarian work.

The scale of the mission was significant, featuring over 400 specialised doctors from renowned hospitals in Phnom Penh who volunteered their expertise. While most treatments were conducted on-site, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony noted that patients requiring advanced surgery or specialised care would be transferred to expert hospitals in the capital, supported directly by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Thipadei Hun Manet and herself.

In response, Kampong Speu Provincial Governor H.E. Dr. Cheam Chan Sophorn expressed profound gratitude to the TYDA team, noting that this marks the sixth medical mission conducted by the association in Kampong Speu. He credited the continuous support of H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many, Minister of Civil Service and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Kampong Speu province, for facilitating these initiatives, which significantly ease the financial burden on local families.

Local residents receiving care described the mission as an "unparalleled act of kindness," praising the direct access to high-quality medical services within their own community.
