Ministry, ITUC-AP Affirm Commitment to Promoting Freedom of Professional Organisations
AKP Phnom Penh, February 27, 2026 -- The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) and the International Trade Union Confederation - Asia Pacific (ITUC-AP) have affirmed their commitment to promote freedom of professional organisations and harmonisation of industrial relations in Cambodia.
The commitment was made in a meeting held here on Feb. 27 between H.E. Mrs. Sovann Vannaroth, Permanent Secretary of State at the MLVT, and Mr. Shoya Yoshida, General Secretary of ITUC-AP.
In the meeting, H.E. Mrs. Sovann Vannaroth highly appreciated the cooperation between the Ministry and ITUC-AP in recent years, noting that it has achieved significant progress in promoting labour rights and freedom of professional organisations in line with international labour standards and Cambodia’s social context.
This collaboration has also contributed to strengthening social dialogue, enhancing harmonious industrial relations, and creating an attractive investment climate, she said.
The partnership between the Ministry and ITUC-AP will continue to grow and contribute more effectively to the development of the labour sector and the promotion of freedom of professional organisations in Cambodia, H.E. Mrs. Sovann Vannaroth added.
For his part, Mr. Shoya Yoshida expressed his commitment to continue working closely with the MLVT to further advance the labour sector and uphold freedom of professional organisations for the benefit and well-being of workers, both present and future.
