Cambodia, Canada Discuss Trade and Investment Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, February 13, 2026 --
H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), received here on Feb. 13 a courtesy call from H.E. Alan Bowman, Director General for Southeast Asia and Oceania, Department of Foreign Affairs of Canada, during his working visit to Cambodia to co-chair the Second Cambodia-Canada Bilateral Consultations.
During the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the significant increase in trade volume between Cambodia and Canada. He highlighted the excellent results of the investment attraction and promotion mission that the Cambodian delegation has completed in Canada recently.
This success has not only promoted Cambodia’s investment potential but also built a direct bridge between the business communities of the two countries, he said.
In addition, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed his deep gratitude for the coordination and support of the Canadian side, especially the Canadian Embassy, which were key factors in ensuring the success of the above mission.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister took the opportunity to emphasise the uniqueness of Cambodia, as the first country to sign a reciprocal trade agreement with the United State, stating that this agreement has provided strategic benefits in increasing confidence and clarity for international investors to invest in Cambodia.
For his part, H.E. Alan Bowman expressed great interest in H.E. Deputy Prime Minister’s remarks and expressed his strong commitment to actively participating in promoting the image and profile of Cambodia in global forums, especially in matters related to the general social environment and the excellence of Cambodia’s investment, to ensure that Canadian and international investors are clearly and comprehensively aware of Cambodia’s progress. H.E. also praised Cambodia’s remarkable progress in the logistics sector.
