Cambodia, Canada Commit to Fostering Bilateral Relations
AKP Phnom Penh, February 13, 2026 -- Cambodia and Canada held their Second Cambodia-Canada Bilateral Consultations in Phnom Penh on Feb. 12 to review past cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration.
The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Meas Kim Heng, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia (MFAIC), and H.E. Alan Bowman, Director General for Southeast Asia and Oceania at Global Affairs Canada.
According to the MFAIC, both sides welcomed the progress achieved since the First Bilateral Consultations held in Ottawa in September 2024, and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations. They agreed to expand cooperation in key areas including trade and investment, education, tourism, defence and security, and demining.
The two sides also exchanged views on political and economic developments in their respective countries, as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, H.E. the Secretary of State expressed Cambodia’s appreciation for Canada’s support in hosting the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026, and confirmed Cambodia’s readiness to welcome high-level participation from Canada.
He also briefed the Canadian side on recent developments concerning the Cambodia–Thailand border situation.
