DPM Sun Chanthol Praises Japan’s Role in Cambodia’s Peace and Economic Development
AKP Phnom Penh, February 12, 2026 -- Cambodia has praised Japan’s role in Cambodia’s peace and economic development, reaffirming the country’s commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Japan across a wide range of sectors.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), H.E. Sun Chanthol, attended the celebration of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s Birthday and Japan’s National Day, held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia on Feb. 11.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Japan’s important role in the process of restoring and rebuilding peace in Cambodia, as well as its extensive support across various sectors to promote the country’s social and economic development.
On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, he expressed sincere appreciation for Japan’s significant contributions and reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
