KOTRA Seeks Deeper Understanding of Cambodia’s GFT Sector
AKP Phnom Penh, February 06, 2026 --
Mr. Robert Hwang, Deputy Chairman of the Textile, Apparel, Footwear & Travel Goods Association of Cambodia (TAFTAC), received a delegation from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) here on Feb. 5 to discuss cooperation on trade promotion, business and investment forums, and human resource development and training exchanges.
During the meeting, Mr. Ly Tekheng, Assistant to the Secretary-General of TAFTAC, presented an overview of the development of Cambodia’s Garment, Footwear and Travel Goods (GFT) sector. He highlighted key areas including trade activities, investment attraction, trade facilitation, logistics, sustainability, and human resource development, aimed at supporting existing Korean investors and the broader Korean business community, particularly in the GFT sector.
Ms. Jangog Youn, Deputy Director General of KOTRA Phnom Penh, said KOTRA was pleased to see TAFTAC as a well-structured and professional association that is open to assisting all investors, not only Korean ones.
She added that KOTRA will maintain close contact with TAFTAC and work together to drive industrial growth and promote Korean investment in Cambodia, noting that KOTRA will also coordinate Cambodian business promotion visits to the Republic of Korea.
Currently, TAFTAC has more than 40 member factories producing garments, footwear, travel goods, and other products for export to international markets.
The GFT sector remains Cambodia’s main source of foreign currency, accounting for around 50 percent of the country’s total exports.
According to a report from the Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia’s GFT exports reached US$15.52 billion in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 15.7 percent from US$13.5 billion in 2024.
