Ministry of Information and Partners Discuss Media Guidelines to Protect Vulnerable Groups
AKP Phnom Penh, February 03, 2026 -- The Ministry of Information held a meeting this morning with representatives of international partners to discuss a framework for cooperation in developing a “Guidelines on Media Reporting” aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of children, women, and vulnerable groups in Cambodia.
The primary objective of the proposed guidelines is to establish clear measures and cooperation mechanisms between the Ministry and partners to ensure that media reporting in the digital era does not infringe upon individual rights or undermine social values.
H.E. Tep Asnarith, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information, said this is one of the efforts of the Ministry to strengthen the partnership with all stakeholders in the information and audiovisual sector to enhance the quality, professionalism, and effectiveness of Cambodia’s media landscape.
At the same time, the spokesperson also called on journalists, content creators, and social media users to strictly adhere to the professional code of ethics and refrain from disseminating content that may harm individual rights.
H.E. Tep Asnarith emphasised the important role of responsible reporting in safeguarding the rights of children, women, and vulnerable groups.
The forthcoming guidelines are expected to assist journalists in their daily work by promoting accurate, ethical, and responsible reporting, particularly when covering sensitive issues involving vulnerable populations.
H.E. Tep Asnarith further noted that the collaboration between the Ministry and non-governmental organisation networks represents another significant step forward in advancing Cambodia’s information and audiovisual sector.
This cooperation will contribute to strengthen the public trust in the media and ensuring the protection of individual rights and information security in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
This talk was attended by relevant ministry leaders, senior officials from the General Department of Information and Audiovisual Media, and representatives from international partner organisations, including Plan International Cambodia, Save the Children Cambodia, World Vision International, UNICEF Cambodia, and CARE.
