Cambodia to Host Ruling Party Leaders’ Summits with Vietnam and Laos This Week

Cambodia will host a series of bilateral and trilateral summits involving the ruling parties of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos in Phnom Penh this week, according to a press release issued by the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) on Feb. 2.
The CPP said that on Feb. 6-7, Cambodia will host three high-level meetings: bilateral talks between the CPP and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV); bilateral talks between the CPP and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP); and a trilateral summit involving the top leaders of the three ruling parties, with participation from the prime ministers, parliamentary leaders and senior party officials of the three countries.
The meetings aim to strengthen traditional friendship, solidarity, cooperation and mutual support among the parties, and to enhance coordination in addressing shared issues effectively and in a timely manner, based on mutual respect, independence, sovereignty, peace and sustainable development.
The summits will be held alongside the official state visits to Cambodia by CPV General Secretary H.E. To Lam on Feb. 6, and LPRP General Secretary and Lao President H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith on Feb. 6-7, at the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.
