Cambodia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak has pledged full diplomatic support for a new initiative to showcase Cambodian art and cultural heritage in South Korea, according to an official embassy statement.

The announcement followed a high-level meeting between Ambassador Rattanak and Kim Yun-tae, Director of the Multi-Culture Museum of Korea, held at the Cambodian Embassy in Seoul recently.

During the talks, Director Kim detailed the museum’s ongoing expansion, noting that a new facility is slated for completion by 2027. 

The project includes a dedicated wing for Asian and European exhibits, where Cambodia is expected to hold a prominent position.

Mr. Kim requested the embassy’s assistance in providing some artifacts, specifically citing: Royal regalia and Apsara dance sculptures, highlighting the Kingdom's traditional performing arts.

Ambassador Rattanak welcomed the proposal, stating that the exhibition aligns with Cambodia's strategic goals to broaden public awareness of its "rich civilisation" within South Korea.

"This initiative is a vital platform for our cultural diplomacy, allowing the Korean public to experience the depth of Cambodian tradition," the Ambassador remarked.

To ensure the success and authenticity of the exhibit, the Ambassador encouraged a direct partnership between the Multi-Culture Museum of Korea and the National Museum of Cambodia. This collaboration aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise, curated artifacts, and creative exhibition design.
