40 Cambodian Officials to Join Customised Training Course in India
AKP Phnom Penh, January 23, 2026 -- The Embassy of India hosted a sending-off programme for 40 officials from the Ministry of Planning and the Ministry of Interior, who are set to embark on customised training courses in India.
The event took place at India House, graced by the presence of Senior Minister H.E. Chhay Sinarith, President of the National Information Technology Centre.
According to a press release of the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh, 20 officials from the Ministry of Interior will attend the "Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Forensic" course from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, 2026. This programme aims to equip Cambodian officials with the essential skills needed to detect, investigate, and prevent cybercrimes.
Simultaneously, 20 officials from the Ministry of Planning will participate in the "Subnational Statistics Using Administrative Data" course from Jan. 27 to Feb. 7, 2026. This training is designed to enhance the capacity of officials from the Royal Government of Cambodia in effectively utilising administrative data to generate reliable, timely, and policy-relevant subnational statistics.
The programme commenced with a welcome speech by H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, Ambassador of India. In his address, Ambassador Bawitlung underscored the significance of international cooperation and shared knowledge in enhancing the capabilities of government officials.
In his closing remarks, Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith expressed gratitude to the government of India for his commitment to strengthening Cambodia's technological capabilities.
Recently, various training initiatives were undertaken by officials from different ministries in Cambodia. A group of 20 officials from the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) successfully completed a course on Countering Illegal Drug Trafficking at the National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics in Palasamudram, India. Additionally, 40 slots were allocated to officials from various ministries under the Ministry of Civil Service coordination for a comprehensive course on Good Governance and Public Policy, which has been completed, while another 40 still are currently in India. Furthermore, 20 officials from the Ministry of Justice are presently attending a course at the National Judicial Academy in India.
