AKP Phnom Penh, January 23, 2026 --

Cambodia’s Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, on Friday handed over a donation of 30 million Riel (approximately US$7,500) to the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital in Phnom Penh, continuing a long-standing Royal Government tradition of supporting free pediatric care in the Kingdom.

The funds were raised through a collective effort involving Cambodian philanthropists living in France and Australia, alongside contributions from the Ministry’s leadership and civil servants.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the donation is part of a broader annual initiative to sustain the nation’s specialised children's hospitals.

The Ministry frequently hosts the "Night of Remembrance" gala to mobilise resources.

In 2025, the Ministry collaborated with the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) for the 6th edition of the event.

These campaigns are designed to support both frontline troops and displaced civilians at the borders, as well as pediatric medical facilities.

During the handover ceremony, Minister Sackona expressed her profound gratitude to the hospital's management and medical teams. She praised their dedication to saving "hundreds of thousands of lives" each year, particularly children facing life-threatening and infectious diseases.

"Our leadership and civil servants will continue to organise charitable events to gather both financial and material support. Our priority remains the sustainability of hospitals that provide essential care to Cambodia’s children," the Minister said.
