Ministry of Interior Says More People Leave Displacement Camps
AKP Phnom Penh, January 23, 2026 -- The Ministry of Interior has announced significant progress in the return and reintegration of displaced persons, with an additional 3,610 individuals recently returning to their homes.
According to the Ministry, this latest development brings the total number of displaced persons who have successfully reintegrated into their communities to approximately 530,000 people, representing about 82 percent of the more than 640,000 displaced persons recorded overall.
Despite this positive trend, challenges remain. The Ministry reported that some 120,000 displaced persons are still living in displacement camps. Among them, there are 62,042 women and 38,690 children.
The Ministry of Interior emphasised that relevant authorities will continue working closely with partners to facilitate safe returns, improve living conditions, restore basic services, and support sustainable reintegration for those who remain displaced.
