Over 1,700 Runners to Join 9th Angkor Ultra Trail Tomorrow
AKP Phnom Penh, January 23, 2026 -- Over 1,700 national and international runners will join the 9th Angkor Ultra Trail to be held in Siem Reap province on Jan. 24.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), said on Jan. 23 that as of this time, the organising process for the sporting event has been going smoothly, with the support of the Siem Reap Provincial Authority, the APSARA National Authority, and the Angkor Foundation, as well as all relevant forces to ensure and maintain safety, security, order, and smooth organisation.
This figure shows that the participation of long-distance runners from around the world in the Angkor Ultra Trail event in the Angkor wonderland remains strong, especially with the increase in national and international athletes participating in the 100-kilometre race.
“Our growth in participation is even better because we have seen that there are more runners who have registered for the 100-kilometer obstacle course, which shows the strength of our people’s well-being,” he said.
“So, the largest number of participants is more than 500 from Cambodia, and the number of French runners has also increased to more than 500. Then there are runners from other countries and regions, such as the United States, England, Japan, and China, etc., who are all participating,” he added.
The 9th Angkor Ultra Trail will consist of 6 events, including 8km, 18km, 32km, 42km, 64km, and 100km. The opening of the event will be held under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, Senior Minister and President of the NOCC.
