FHI 360 Reaffirms Long-Term Commitment to Cambodia’s Health System Reform
AKP Phnom Penh, January 22, 2026 —
Family Health International (FHI) 360, the U.S.-based global health and development organisation, has pledged to deepen its 28-year partnership with Cambodia, focusing on digital health transformation and the push toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The commitment was formalised during a meeting here on Thursday between Cambodia’s Minister of Health, H.E. Professor Chheang Ra, and Dr. Christian Pitter, FHI 360 Senior Vice President for Global Programmes and Science.
Minister Chheang Ra lauded the organisation’s role in fortifying Cambodia’s healthcare resilience, particularly through the EpiC project (HIV and health security), the Alive & Thrive nutrition initiative, and critical infectious disease surveillance systems.
"FHI 360's involvement is a cornerstone of our efforts to ensure the sustainable well-being of our citizens," the Minister said.
Operating in Cambodia since 1998, FHI 360 currently manages high-impact projects backed by the U.S. Department of State, the Global Fund, and the Government of Ireland.
Dr. Pitter emphasised that these resources are being channeled into technical solutions and data-driven equity, with a growing focus on the "Digital Health" ecosystem.
To meet the Royal Government’s 2026 health objectives, the Ministry of Health outlined some priority areas for FHI 360’s continued support: increasing health education for communities, combating infectious and non-communicable diseases, addressing health impacts of climate change, strengthening service quality across public and private providers, and developing human resources and digital health.
The two parties concluded the session by reaffirming a shared goal: a quality-driven, equitable healthcare system that aligns with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strategic roadmap.
