Ministry of Information to Continue Playing Proactive Role in Information and Public Opinion
AKP Phnom Penh, January 19, 2026 -- The Ministry of Information will continue to play a proactive role in the information and public opinion sector to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, said Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra at the opening ceremony of the Ministry’s annual meeting held this morning.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra said that during more than seven months of border tensions along the Cambodia-Thailand border, from May 28, 2025 to Jan. 19, 2026, the Ministry of Information actively reported developments and contributed to providing clear, accurate, and timely information to the public.
“The Ministry of Information will further reform to play a more proactive and responsible role in supporting Cambodia’s sustainable development,” he underlined.
The Minister also encouraged local media practitioners to continue upholding media professionalism and codes of conduct to ensure responsible journalism in society.
For her part, H.E. Mrs. Chea Sundaneth, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, said the Ministry has played a catalytic role in strengthening democracy and promoting national development.
To further enhance this role, she noted that the Ministry has been cooperating with various stakeholders to conduct more professional training programmes, both domestically and internationally, for its staff and media practitioners.
