Cambodia’s Koh Toteung Prepares to Welcome Domestic and International Tourists
AKP Phnom Penh, January 17, 2026 --
Koh Toteung, a tranquil island located in Kiri Sakor district of Koh Kong province within the Koh Sdach archipelago, is preparing to welcome domestic and international tourists seeking pristine natural beauty and a quiet retreat close to nature.
Known for its crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches and rich marine ecosystems, Koh Toteung has emerged as an increasingly attractive destination for travellers looking for privacy and environmentally conscious tourism, local authorities and tourism operators said.
Surrounded by turquoise seas, the island offers visitors clear views of coral reefs and diverse marine life, making it well suited for snorkeling and underwater exploration. Unlike more crowded destinations, Koh Toteung remains largely unspoiled, providing a calm atmosphere for visitors seeking rest and relaxation.
Popular activities on the island include snorkeling, kayaking around distinctive rocky outcrops, boat excursions and traditional fishing experiences alongside local residents.
Community-run boats are available for tourists wishing to explore the surrounding waters.
Accommodation on Koh Toteung is modest and eco-friendly, with most facilities relying on solar energy and rainwater harvesting. Small bungalow-style lodgings allow visitors to experience a simple lifestyle while supporting environmental conservation efforts, giving guests the feeling of staying on a private island.
To reach Koh Toteung, travellers must first journey to the Ta Yong commune port or nearby areas, before taking a boat for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. The short journey leads to an island known for its clear waters, coral reefs and abundant marine resources.
Tourism officials say Koh Toteung reflects Cambodia’s growing focus on sustainable and nature-based tourism, offering visitors a peaceful alternative to mass tourism while preserving the country’s coastal ecosystems.
