Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling sophisticated cyber-scam networks, emphasising that international cooperation is essential to eradicating organised technology-driven crime.

In a high-level meeting in Phnom Penh on Friday with British Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Dominic Williams, H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and Chairman of the Secretariat of the Ad-hoc Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), detailed recent successful operations targeting key hubs of cyber-fraud. 

He underscored the Royal Government of Cambodia’s "firm stance and high commitment" to sweeping away these illicit operations and ensuring that ringleaders and their accomplices face the full force of the law.

The Senior Minister emphasised that because cyber-fraud is a transnational threat, Cambodia is prioritising the expansion of partnerships with foreign law enforcement agencies to track, suppress, and prosecute criminal syndicates on a global scale.

In response, Ambassador Williams commended Cambodia’s recent crackdowns on major scam centres, describing the results as "tangible evidence" of the Kingdom’s proactive efforts to address the issue.

The British diplomat noted that these operations signal Cambodia’s seriousness to the international community. 

He confirmed that the United Kingdom remains ready to deepen its collaboration with Cambodian authorities to combat the evolving threat of digital fraud.

The two sides concluded the meeting by outlining a roadmap for future engagement, focusing on exchange of information and capacity building.
