Francophone Summit to Promote Cambodia's Tourism Potential to the World
AKP Phnom Penh, January 16, 2026 -- The 20th Francophone Summit 2026, scheduled to be held later this year in Siem Reap province – home to the renowned UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park – is expected to help promote Cambodia’s tourism potential to the world, said H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, on Friday.
The minister made the remarks while chairing a meeting to review the progress of preparations for the side event, Village Francophone, to be organised alongside the 20th Francophone Summit in mid-November.
The Francophonie Summit brings together heads of state and government from member countries of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) to discuss and exchange views on a wide range of issues, including international politics, the global economy, Francophonie cooperation, human rights, education, culture, and democracy.
On the occasion of the summit, two major side events will be organised: Village Francophone, a cultural hub showcasing traditions, cuisine, and arts from the world’s 343 million French speakers; and FrancoTech, which will highlight the role of the French language in scientific innovation and digital cooperation.
“This great and historic international event is expected to be attended by more than 90 member countries, along with a large number of national and international journalists,” H.E. Huot Hak said. “Their presence will help promote Cambodia’s tourism potential to the world and enhance the country’s image and reputation on the international stage.”
