Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Mine-Free World

Cambodia is committed to promoting peace, cooperation, and a mine-free world grounded in respect for international law.
The commitment was reaffirmed by H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), during an online meeting on Jan. 12 with H.E. Ms. Eunice M. Tembo Luambia, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Zambia to the United Nations in Geneva and President of the 23rd Meeting of States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, together with the Convention’s Implementation Support Unit (ISU).
On the occasion, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch on behalf of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet conveyed congratulations to H.E. Ms. Eunice M. Tembo Luambia on her assumption of the Presidency and reaffirmed Cambodia’s full confidence in her leadership, as well as the Kingdom’s strong commitment to upholding the humanitarian integrity of the Convention.
He further emphasised Cambodia’s long-standing compliance with the Convention and its substantive contributions to global mine action, while underscoring that the Convention must remain a humanitarian instrument.
“I highlighted Cambodia’s consistent good-faith efforts to address any issues through dialogue and cooperation. I stressed the importance of safeguarding the authority, credibility, and integrity of the Convention, and reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to peace, cooperation, and a mine-free world grounded in respect for international law,” H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch wrote on his Facebook page.
The CMAA First Vice President also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to providing full support and close cooperation to ensure the success of Zambia’s presidency.
