AKP Phnom Penh, January 09, 2026 --
H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, held talks here on Jan. 8 with a delegation of the Trans ASEAN MADANI Convoy, led by Datuk Rahim bin Hj Hashim and Datuk Dr. Yaakop bin Sapari.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the minister on the objectives of the Trans ASEAN MADANI Convoy, which seeks to convey a global message of peace, mutual cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges, while promoting tourism across the ASEAN region with the shared aspiration of making ASEAN the most peaceful region in the world.
The convoy is travelling across four countries – Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia – from Jan. 1 to 16, 2026. It comprises 12 vehicles from each participating country, with more than 200 participants in total. The initiative is co-organised by the National Cooperative Movement of Malaysia Bhd (ANGKASA), the ASEAN-Japan Friendship Association for the 21st Century, Malaysia, and Koperasi Perumahan Awam Malaysia (KOPAMA) Bhd.
The programme is also aligned with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign, which was officially launched by H.E. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, in September 2025.
H.E. Huot Hak expressed his appreciation to the delegation for choosing to visit Cambodia in person to gain firsthand understanding of the country’s actual situation, including its peace and security environment, strong connectivity infrastructure, safety for international travellers and tourists, and overall economic and social conditions. He also highlighted the warm hospitality of the Cambodian people, the wide range of accommodation options, and the availability of diverse and Halal-friendly cuisine.
