Modern Poultry Agricultural Cooperative Launched in Takeo Province
AKP Phnom Penh, January 06, 2026 --
A modern poultry agricultural cooperative has been launched in Takeo province with assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF), aiming at improving food safety standards and farmers’ incomes.
Named O’Phut Modern Agricultural Cooperative and located in Ang Tasom commune, Tramkak district, the cooperative comprises 120-member households and integrates modern poultry farming with the production of safe vegetables and fruits.
H.E. Khim Finan, Under-Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the MAFF, said on Jan. 6 that this initiative represents a move towards more organised and market-oriented agricultural production, combining livestock and crop farming under modern management practices.
He noted that the MAFF, through the Cambodian Agricultural Diversification Project, has provided a 40 percent investment grant to support the construction of production infrastructure.
In addition, the project has facilitated access to capital loans for operations, provided technical assistance, and helped connect the community with markets in advance to ensure stable outlets for its products.
Modern agricultural cooperatives in Cambodia are a government-backed initiative by the MAFF and partners to shift Cambodia's agriculture from subsistence to commercial farming, focusing on better technology, market access, and financial inclusion.
In recent years, the Royal Government has prioritised agricultural diversification, value-added production and modern farming systems as part of its strategy to enhance competitiveness and long-term sustainability in the sector.
