AKP Phnom Penh, January 03, 2026— ​More than 2,800 families displaced by ongoing border tensions in the Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province, received emergency relief supplies on Friday, part of a high-level humanitarian mission ordered by Cambodia’s top leadership.

The aid distribution, conducted on Jan. 2, targeted 2,816 families forced to flee their homes following recent military escalations along the frontier. The relief effort was coordinated under the direct guidance of H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Banteay Meanchey province.

The provisions were donated by Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, and Cambodian Red Cross President Samdech Kittipritthpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, alongside Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony.

"This mission serves as a testament to the high sense of responsibility and compassion of Cambodia’s leadership," Minister Dith Tina said during the distribution. "The Royal Government remains committed to ensuring that no citizen is left behind during times of crisis, particularly those affected by violations of our national sovereignty."

Local authorities reported that the displaced residents are currently staying in temporary shelters. The aid packages included essential food supplies and daily necessities aimed at stabilising the living conditions of those impacted by the instability.

H.E. Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey, expressed gratitude for the prompt intervention. 

"These donations provide more than just physical relief; they offer vital moral support and hope to our citizens who have been uprooted by this conflict," the Governor stated.

Recipients at the site shared accounts of the hardships faced since fleeing the border zones. Many expressed relief at the arrival of the working group, noting that the timely assistance alleviated immediate fears regarding food security and shelter.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has characterised the distribution as part of a broader "Khmer help Khmer" initiative, signaling a continued commitment to humanitarian aid and domestic stability amidst regional security challenges.
