Cambodia Updates Diplomatic Missions and International Organisations on Border Situation
AKP Phnom Penh, January 02, 2026 —
H.E. CHANN Rotana, Under Secretary of State and Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, this afternoon briefed 25 representatives from 22 Diplomatic Missions and International Organisations in Phnom Penh on the latest development of the Cambodia-Thailand Border Situation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the briefings focused on three outstanding issues: 1) Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) of Dec. 27, 2025; 2) The key outcomes of Trilateral Meeting of Foreign Ministers and senior military officials of Cambodia, Thailand and China, held on Dec. 29, 2025 in Yunnan Province of China; and 3) The release of 18 Cambodian soldiers on Dec. 31, 2025.
The Under Secretary of State touched on the updated civilian casualties, including death toll, injuries and displaced persons, and extensive damages caused by the indiscriminate attacks by Thai armed forces over Cambodia’s territory and sovereignty as well as on civilian areas.
Taking that opportunity, he also expressed his sincere thanks to all humanitarian assistances extended to Cambodia from all friendly countries, especially China, either directly or through International Organisations or NGOs.
