Cambodia to Continue Working with Partners to Secure Peace

Cambodia will continue to work closely with Thailand and other relevant partners to resolve the border issue peacefully and ensure lasting peace, according to the Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata.
Speaking at a press briefing this afternoon, she said the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border has remained calm, with no armed clashes or exchange of fire reported since the ceasefire came into force at noon on Dec. 27, 2025.
At the same time, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata noted that Cambodian forces continue to closely monitor developments and maintain a high level of vigilance while fulfilling their duties to defend the country’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
As of 1:00 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2026, more than 393,600 displaced people remain in safety centres, including nearly 206,800 women and over 126,000 children, after more than 15,600 displaced persons have returned to their homes.
