Over 100,000 Displaced People Return Home Following Ceasefire

As of the evening of Jan. 1, more than 100,000 displaced people have returned to their homes since the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand took effect on Dec. 27, 2025, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The Ministry reported that as of 6:00 p.m. on Jan. 1, a total of 103,177 displaced people had returned home. As a result, the remaining number of displaced persons stands at 409,186, including 214,525 women and 131,413 children.
The Ministry noted that the continued effective implementation of the ceasefire by both Cambodian and Thai armed forces has contributed significantly to the restoration of calm along the border, enabling displaced civilians to gradually resume normal life in their communities.
Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to strictly respecting the ceasefire of July 28, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand signed on Oct. 26, 2025, the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) dated Dec. 27, 2025, as well as other related agreements.
The Royal Government of Cambodia will continue to work closely with Thailand and other relevant partners to resolve the border issue peacefully, in full accordance with international law, with the aim of achieving a just, impartial, and lasting solution.
