Displaced People in Koh Kong Province Return Home
AKP Phnom Penh, December 30, 2025 -- There are no longer any displaced persons staying in safety camps in Koh Kong province, as all have returned to their home villages following the improvement of the border situation after the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand entered into force at noon on Dec. 27.
The information was shared by the Ministry of Interior in a press release made public this evening.
According to the report, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 31, a total of 55,596 displaced persons continued to return to their homes. As a result, the remaining number of displaced persons nationwide has dropped to 517,555, including 269,954 women and 161,989 children.
The situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border remains calm, allowing displaced civilians to gradually resume normal life in their home areas. In addition, all 18 Cambodian heroic soldiers have been safely repatriated to the country in accordance with the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting on Dec. 27.
