Foreign Ministry Clarifies DPM PRAK Sokhonn’s Remarks on Drones Following Cambodia-Thailand-China Trilateral Meeting
AKP Phnom Penh, December 30, 2025 --
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) has clarified the recent remarks made by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, regarding the use of drones in the Cambodia-Thailand situation, after parts of his statement were taken out of context and led to misleading interpretations.
According to the Statement of the MFAIC’s Spokesperson released this evening, on Dec. 29, 2025, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister gave an interview to the National Television of Cambodia (TVK) on the outcome of the Cambodia-Thailand-China Trilateral Meeting on the Current Situation between Cambodia and Thailand, which was held on the same day in Yunnan Province of China.
His reference, during this interview, to the use of drone in the recent Cambodia-Thailand conflict has been taken out of context, resulting in misleading account of his statement, and several media inquiries for clarification.
On maintaining an enduring ceasefire, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn highlighted the need to establish constant communication channels at the Foreign Minister level and between the Militaries of Cambodia and Thailand to prevent unnecessary escalation of tensions by a minor incident, such as reported cross-border drone deployment, which both sides would be able to immediately verify to avoid misunderstanding.
H.E. PRAK Sokhonn did not mention any specific drone incident or any number of drones, as misleadingly reported in some media and commentaries.
