Cambodia Rejects Thailand’s Accusations over Drone Launches
AKP Phnom Penh, December 29, 2025 -- The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has categorically rejected a statement issued by the Thai side on Dec. 29, 2025, which claimed that more than 250 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly called drones, were detected flying from Cambodia and violating Thailand’s sovereign territory.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, dismissed the allegation in a press release made public this evening.
“The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces reaffirm their firm and sincere commitment to the strict implementation of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand dated Dec. 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand signed on Oct. 26, 2025, and other related agreements,” she underlined. “These efforts are aimed at ensuring a speedy recovery and a return to normalcy, peace, stability, and security for the people living along the border areas of both countries.”
Furthermore, she added that the Ministry of National Defence and provincial administrations—particularly those in border areas—have issued strict instructions prohibiting the launch of all types of unmanned aerial vehicles.
“We confirm that no such drone launches have occurred,” the spokeswoman said.
