Battlefields Along Cambodia-Thailand Border Are Calm

The battlefields along the Cambodia–Thailand border are calm following the signing of a ceasefire agreement by both sides this morning, said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence.
“The situation along the frontline from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. was calm after both sides signed the ceasefire agreement at the 3rd Special Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting this morning,” she underlined.
The spokeswoman said Cambodian forces are committed to respecting the agreement and will remain vigilant in monitoring the situation to safeguard national sovereignty.
At the same press briefing, H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, called on the public to read the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Cambodia–Thailand GBC Meeting carefully and in full to gain a proper understanding, and to avoid misunderstanding or being misled by misinterpretations.
Peace is of utmost importance and remains a firm commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia, he said.
He further reaffirmed that the Royal Government is committed to resolving all border issues peacefully and in accordance with international law.
