The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia this evening rejected Thailand’s accusation of troop mobilisation in the Poipet area of Banteay Meanchey province, describing the claim as fabricated.

According to the Ministry’s statement, certain Thai news media outlets have disseminated false assertions alleging that “Cambodia has mobilised troops into the Poipet area, Banteay Meanchey province.”

“The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia rejects the content published by the Thai side and affirms that it is fabricated and false information, completely contrary to the truth,” the statement underlined.

The Ministry explained that Poipet, located in Banteay Meanchey province, is a major commercial centre with a large population, including many foreign nationals of various nationalities. Therefore, Cambodia has not mobilised troops into the Poipet area.
