State Institutions, Political Parties, Religious Sects Issue Petitions Condemning Thai Military Aggression
AKP Phnom Penh, December 26, 2025 -- The Senate, National Assembly, ministries and institutions, national and sub-national administrations, political parties, organisations, associations, and religious sects in Cambodia as well as Cambodian communities abroad have issued petitions strongly condemning what they described as Thailand’s “brutal and inhumane invasion.
The petitions stated that since Dec. 7, 2025, Thai armed forces have launched intense and indiscriminate attacks using heavy artillery, F-16 and T-50TH fighter aircraft, and other weapons against Cambodian civilians in the border provinces, causing loss of life and injuries among innocent civilians, as well as extensive damage to public infrastructure, schools, hospitals, residential homes, and significant amounts of property. These attacks have gravely displaced hundreds of thousands of people and disrupted the education of hundreds of thousands of children, depriving them of their right to learn.
These acts of aggression clearly demonstrate the cruel, inhumane, immoral, unjust, and unlawful conduct of the Thai military. Such conduct constitutes a serious violation of the Charter of the United Nations, the ASEAN Charter, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, as well as the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration on Peace Agreement, signed by the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand and witnessed by H.E. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, and H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Oct. 26, 2025.
The petitions called upon the international community to unequivocally denounce these violations, hold Thailand fully accountable, and demand the immediate cessation of all hostile activities that threaten the peace and stability of Cambodia and the region.
They also urged Thailand to fully and sincerely comply with the ceasefire agreement, the Joint Declaration on the Cambodia-Thailand Peace Agreement, and all of its obligations under international law.
The petitions concluded by reaffirming their firm and full support for the Royal Government of Cambodia in addressing the border conflict peacefully in accordance with applicable international law and principles.
