AKP Phnom Penh, December 26, 2025 -- Cambodian officials and private donors have delivered relief supplies and educational materials to hundreds of families displaced by recent Thai invasion along the border, the Ministry of Information said.

The aid was distributed in the Sre Ambel district of Koh Kong province to residents who fled their homes following the incursion by Thai forces that began Dec. 13. Local authorities said the violence forced women, children, and the elderly to seek temporary refuge.

Information Minister H.E. Neth Pheaktra, his spouse, and other donors provided the assistance to ease hardships for the displaced, officials said.

Venerable In Sovannor, Head of the Sala Mneang Pagoda, said more than 500 families were displaced between Dec. 13 and Dec. 19. Provincial authorities and local pagodas have provided temporary shelter, food, and basic healthcare.

While some residents have returned home, approximately 300 families remain in shelters due to ongoing security concerns and a lack of daily necessities, he said.

"This assistance reflects national solidarity and helps alleviate the burden on displaced communities," the venerable In Sovannor said, thanking the ministry and volunteers.

Staff from the State-owned Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) and other government departments also contributed funds for school supplies, food, and clothing for affected women and children, according to officials.
