Cambodian First Lady Honours Soldiers Killed in Border Clashes
AKP Phnom Penh, December 24, 2025 --
Cambodia's First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet attended on Wednesday the funerals of soldiers killed in recent border fighting, as the Royal Government continues to signal a firm stance on territorial sovereignty.
Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony travelled to the soldiers’ homes in the southern province of Takeo to join local officials and family members for traditional funeral rites.
The soldiers, whose name was not released, died during recent clashes along the border.
Cambodian officials have repeatedly said that members of the armed forces who died in the clashes are regarded as national heroes for their role in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.
During the ceremony, the First Lady delivered condolences on behalf of the country’s top leadership, including the Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen; the Cambodian Red Cross President Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen and her husband, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to the bereaved families.
