Innocent Civilians Continue to Suffer Amid Thai Military Aggression

Cambodian civilians continue to endure the consequences of indiscriminate attacks as the Thai military aggression against Cambodia’s territorial integrity enters its 18th day, stated H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence.
Speaking at a press briefing this afternoon, the Spokeswoman reported that Thai forces utilised various forms of heavy weaponry today to aggressively target Cambodian territory. This included airstrikes by fighter jets on civilian residential areas in Svay Chek district (Banteay Meanchey), Srei Snam district (Siem Reap), and Banan district (Battambang), located deep within Cambodian sovereign territory.
The casualty toll has now risen to 21 civilian deaths and 86 injuries, she pointed out.
According to the Ministry of Interior, as of 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2024, approximately 610,000 people have been forced to flee their homes for safety. This displaced population includes an estimated 319,000 women and more than 192,000 children.
