AKP Phnom Penh, December 23, 2025 --

China is willing to create conditions and provide a platform for dialogue and negotiations between Cambodia and Thailand to resolve their ongoing border conflict. 

The statement was made by Mr. Guo Jiakun, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, on his social media platform this evening.

According to Mr. Guo, from Dec. 18 to 23, 2025, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Deng Xijun made another shuttle-diplomacy trip to Cambodia and Thailand to mediate the recent border conflict.

China also reaffirmed its support for ASEAN's mediation efforts and the important role of its observer team in ceasefire monitoring, he added. 

“It is hoped that Cambodia and Thailand will meet each other halfway, strive to restore mutual trust, and rebuild border peace,” underlined Mr. Guo Jiakun.
