Poipet Targeted by Unlawful Thai Military Operations
AKP Phnom Penh, December 23, 2025 --
Poipet city in Banteay Meanchey province remains under unlawful attack by Thai forces today, according to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence.
At 8:01 a.m., the Thai military fired two artillery shells into densely populated residential areas. One shell landed in Sangkat O’Russey, while the second struck Sangkat Nimitt, the spokeswoman confirmed.
Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata emphasised that these brutal actions constitute indiscriminate attacks by the Thai military and represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
“The Cambodian forces continue to monitor the situation closely, standing strong, brave, and vigilant in their duty to protect the territorial integrity of Cambodia,” she added. “We will defend our national dignity with courage and unwavering resolve, at any cost, without succumbing to coercion or intimidation in any form.”
