Thai Forces Launch Indiscriminate Attacks on Battambang Province, Injuring One Civilian

Thai forces continued their brutal and indiscriminate attacks on Cambodian territory this morning, specifically targeting the Phnom Prek and Sampov Loun districts in Battambang province. The strikes resulted in the injury of one civilian, according to a report from the Ministry of National Defence.
The Ministry’s press release detailed that between 6:25 a.m. and 6:35 a.m., the Thai military fired five 155mm artillery shells into Phnom Prek commune and two additional shells into O’Choat village, located in Barang Thlaek commune, Phnom Prek district.
Later, from 8:40 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the Thai military launched another five 155mm artillery shells into the Kilo 9 village area of Chrey Seima commune in Sampov Loun district.
Preliminary information from local authorities confirms that the attacks injured one civilian.
“The aforementioned actions constitute indiscriminate attacks by the Thai military and represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law,” the Ministry emphasised.
While the Ministry noted that the situation has since returned to a state of calm, Cambodian forces continue to monitor the border closely. They remain steadfast, brave, and vigilant in their duty to protect the nation's territorial integrity.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, stated that Thai forces have continued their illegal aggression against Cambodia for 16 days. She reaffirmed that Cambodian forces maintain a strong position to protect the nation's dignity with courage and unwavering resolve, at any cost, and without succumbing to any form of coercion or intimidation.
