Cambodian Top Diplomat Heads Towards Malaysia for Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting

A Cambodian delegation led by H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, left Techo International Airport this morning to participate in the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the Current Situation between Cambodia and Thailand.
The meeting, scheduled for today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, follows a joint decision reached by the Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand on Dec. 11, 2025.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), the Special Meeting will discuss the recent development of the current situation with a view to fostering mutual understanding and confidence, promoting de-escalation of tensions, and restoring peace, stability and good neighbourly relations.
“Cambodia will reaffirm its firm position of resolving differences and disputes through all peaceful means, dialogue and diplomacy, in accordance with international law, the UN Charter and the ASEAN Charter,” the Ministry underlined.
On the margins of the Meeting, it added, H.E. PRAK Sokhonn will also hold bilateral discussions with other ASEAN counterparts to further strengthen cooperation and promote confidence-building measures.
“The participation of Cambodia in this Special Meeting reflects the strong commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia to peace, security and prosperity in the region as well as to upholding ASEAN Centrality and unity, thereby reinforcing ASEAN's enduring contribution to the wider international community,” said the MFAIC.
