Thai Forces Launch Multi-Front Assault in Five Cambodian Provinces
AKP Phnom Penh, December 20, 2025 --
Thai military forces have continued their multi-front assault on Cambodian sovereign territory using heavy artillery, naval warships, F-16 fighter jets, and armored vehicles, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, said at a press briefing this morning.
The attacks, spanning from yesterday evening through this morning, have targeted Military Regions 3, 4, and 5, covering the provinces of Koh Kong, Pursat, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, and Preah Vihear, she added.
According to the spokeswoman, while some areas have returned to a state of relative calm, active engagements continue on several other battlefields as of the time of the report.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata underlined that Thailand’s systematic aggression – characterised by the deployment of heavy weaponry, cluster bombs, toxic gas, and advanced drones – constitutes a direct assault on both innocent civilians and World Cultural Heritage sites. She stated that such conduct identifies Thailand as a state undermining peace and security, serving expansionist ambitions through aggression against its neighbour.
In this sense, she called upon the international community to strongly condemn Thailand's repeated war crimes and violations of international law. “Cambodia demands that Thailand take full responsibility for these brazen incursions. Furthermore, Cambodia urges Thailand to immediately cease all hostile activities, withdraw its forces from Cambodian territory, and end the aggression that threatens the stability of the entire region,” stressed the spokeswoman.
