EU Offers Satellite Imagery to Monitor Cambodia-Thailand Ceasefire
AKP Phnom Penh, December 17, 2025 -- The European Union has offered to deploy satellite surveillance to monitor a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand following a fresh flare-up of border tensions, the bloc’s foreign policy chief said on Wednesday evening.
EU High Representative H.E. Ms. Kaja Kallas called for an "immediate restoration" of the ceasefire, warning that the long-standing territorial dispute must not be allowed to spiral into a broader conflict.
"I will continue to engage to help get out of the escalation cycle," she said in a statement. "The EU can offer satellite imagery for ceasefire monitoring."
H.E. Ms. Kallas confirmed she conveyed the proposal to the foreign ministers of both nations in separate discussions earlier today.
The EU Delegation to Cambodia stated that the offer remains on the table as diplomatic efforts continue to de-escalate the situation.
