Large Number of Youth to Join a March for Peace in Phnom Penh Tomorrow
AKP Phnom Penh, December 17, 2025 --
The Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) will organise a March for Peace in Phnom Penh tomorrow to demonstrate Cambodia’s spirit of love for peace.
According to an announcement by the UYFC, the march will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 18, starting from the Night Market and proceeding to the public park at the Independence Monument, where a public address will be delivered.
The event aims not only to showcase the Kingdom of Cambodia’s commitment to peace, but also to encourage respect for the ceasefire and the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, the source said.
In order to avoid traffic congestion and ensure security, safety, and public order, the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration has called on road users to avoid Sisowath Quay, from the Night Market to the Samdech Preah Sangharaja Chuon Nath Roundabout, as well as Preah Suramarith Boulevard, from the Samdech Preah Sangharaja Chuon Nath Roundabout to the Independence Monument Roundabout.
It should be recalled that the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand entered into force at midnight on July 28, 2025, while the Joint Declaration on the peace agreement between the two countries was signed on Oct. 26, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the presidency of U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as ASEAN Chair for 2025.
However, the Thai side has failed to honour these agreements and has resumed aggressive attacks against Cambodia since Dec. 7, 2025.
