Defence Ministry: Cambodian Forces Stand Strong in Defending National Territory
AKP Phnom Penh, December 14, 2025 -- H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, has reaffirmed that the heroic Cambodian armed forces continue to stand strong, brave, and steadfast in confronting aggression, while remaining fully vigilant in carrying out their duty to protect Cambodia’s territorial integrity.
“Cambodia will not surrender to coercion or intimidation in any form,” she underlined during a press briefing this afternoon.
Regarding the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border, the spokeswoman reported that Thai military forces have continued their acts of aggression against Cambodia, intensifying the use of cluster bombs, artillery and toxic gas shelling, as well as drone bombings, in Cambodia’s 4th and 5th Military Regions.
“Cambodia calls on the international community to strongly condemn Thailand’s violations of the Joint Declaration, along with its repeated war crimes and unlawful actions, and to demand that Thailand take full responsibility for these blatant violations,” she said.
She further urged Thailand to immediately cease all hostile activities, withdraw its forces from Cambodian territory, and refrain from any further incursions or acts of aggression that threaten peace and stability in the region.
Since Dec. 7, the Thai military has renewed its attacks on Cambodian territory and expanded operations across multiple locations in Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat provinces. These operations have included the use of heavy weapons, F-16 fighter jets, and toxic gas, resulting in civilian casualties, damage to homes, temples, and health centers, the temporary closure of hundreds of schools, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Cambodia has no choice but to counterattack in self-defence to repeated violations of its territorial integrity after exercising more than 24 hours of maximum restraint.
