Ministry of Information Warns of Thai Disinformation Campaign Targeting Cambodia-Thailand Border
AKP Phnom Penh, December 08, 2025 --
H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information of Cambodia, today issued a strong warning regarding the widespread dissemination of false and fabricated information by Thai sources concerning the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
In a statement via his official Facebook channel, H.E. Neth Pheaktra stated that the Ministry has observed a significant campaign of misinformation and distortion emanating from Thai entities, explicitly designed to mislead the public on border affairs.
H.E. Minister highlighted a coordinated disinformation tactic involving the creation of numerous fraudulent Facebook accounts. These accounts are impersonating Cambodian entities by using Khmer names and script to spread falsified, exaggerated, and provocative content with the apparent intent of inciting reciprocal responses.
He urged the public to exercise extreme caution and high vigilance. He advised citizens against sharing unverified information and recommended directly reporting suspicious accounts to Facebook administrators for blocking.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra strongly directed the public to rely exclusively on official information sources to ensure access to accurate and truthful reporting.
Concurrently, the Minister confirmed that the Ministry of Information, in collaboration with state and private media networks, will enhance coordination with the Ministry of National Defence and other relevant institutions to ensure the continuous flow of factual information to the Cambodian people.
