National Assembly President Pledges Support to Victims of Alleged Thai Troop Violence
AKP Phnom Penh, November 25, 2025 -- Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on Nov. 24, visited Calmette Hospital to offer humanitarian aid and solidarity to Cambodian workers and civilians injured in recent incidents involving sexual assault and shootings allegedly committed by Thai soldiers.
The National Assembly President, accompanied by her colleagues, conveyed her deep sympathy to the victims. Samdech Sudary reaffirmed the legislative body's commitment to supporting citizens during difficult times, operating under the principle: “Where there is suffering, there is a representative of the people.”
The visit comes as the Royal Government, the Cambodian Red Cross, and other national institutions intensify their humanitarian support for those affected by what Cambodian authorities have condemned as grave abuses and brutal attacks by Thai troops. Leaders across legislative, executive, and civil society spheres have issued strong, unified condemnations of the incidents and demanded full justice and accountability.
Expressing profound concern and regret over the “inhumane acts” inflicted upon innocent Cambodian civilians, Samdech Sudary reiterated Cambodia’s firm demand for justice.
She encouraged the victims—including the women and other injured parties—to remain resilient, prioritise their recovery, and maintain trust in the Royal Government’s ongoing efforts to seek comprehensive redress.
The President extended gratitude to the medical teams at Calmette Hospital for their attentive care. She also highly praised Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, for her leading role in mobilising continuous material, financial, and moral support for all victims.
During the visit, the parliamentary delegation delivered financial and humanitarian assistance, totaling 20.5 million Riel (approximately US$5,125).
