Oxfam and Cambodian Tourism Ministry Partner to Elevate Sustainable Ecotourism in Kravanh Region
AKP Phnom Penh, November 24, 2025 —
Global anti-poverty organisation Oxfam and the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism have announced a strategic partnership aimed at significantly advancing sustainable ecotourism development in the ecologically vital Kravanh Mountain region.
The organisations formalised this collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 2025-2027 period. The signing ceremony took place on Nov. 24, at the 5th National Ecotourism Forum 2025 in Siem Reap.
The agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for multi-stakeholder collaboration under the banner of the Cambodia Sustainable Landscape and Ecotourism Project. This move is a strong signal of the Cambodian Royal Government’s deepened commitment to leveraging ecotourism as a crucial pathway for inclusive economic growth while safeguarding the nation's natural environment.
The newly signed MoU is designed to coordinate action across several key Cambodian ministries, including: Ministry of Environment; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Ministry of Rural Development.
It also mandates close cooperation with the private sector, development partners, and, most critically, local communities. The partnership is dedicated to fostering a holistic approach to tourism development, ensuring that it generates tangible economic benefits for the landscape's inhabitants while promoting conservation stewardship across the Kravanh region.
