AKP Phnom Penh, November 20, 2025 -- The Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Seoul announced plans today to launch a series of cultural showcases in the Republic of Korea, featuring traditional dance and costume exhibitions, with the long-term goal of establishing a professional Khmer dance troupe in the country.
The initiative, outlined by Cambodia's newly appointed Ambassador to South Korea, H.E. Khuon Phon Ratanak, aims to deepen cultural ties and promote Cambodia's heritage to Korean and international audiences.
The ambassador discussed the plans during a courtesy call with Mr. Chung Samuel, President of the Korean Culture Association (KCA). Their meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cultural cooperation and expanding exchange programmes between the two nations.
Ambassador Ratanak emphasised the embassy's commitment to "introducing more Khmer cultural performances in Korea," and highlighted the strategic ambition to "form a skilled Khmer dance troupe to sustainably promote Cambodian arts and culture."
Mr. Chung acknowledged the strong existing cooperation with the embassy and expressed his association's support for the new initiatives. He welcomed the proposals and affirmed the KCA's willingness to collaborate on future events that highlight the cultural identities of both countries, adding that such platforms are vital for fostering people-to-people ties.
