AKP Phnom Penh, November 14, 2025 -- A high-level delegation of parliamentarians visited 400 families displaced by a recent border incident, delivering humanitarian aid and reaffirming the Royal Government’s commitment to their safety and a peaceful resolution.

The delegation, led by H.E. Ke Kim Yan, a Member of National Assembly for Banteay Meanchey Constituency and Member of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, met with the families who are currently sheltering at the Chan Sy Samaky Ratanaram Pagoda in O'Chrov district. The families fled their homes in Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages after Thai forces opened fire.

During the visit this morning, H.E. Ke Kim Yan conveyed a message of solidarity from the nation’s top leaders, including Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen; National Assembly President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary; and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.

“The country’s leaders are closely monitoring the situation and stand with you in this difficult period,” H.E. Ke Kim Yan stated. He called for resilience and unity among the citizens, expressing confidence in the Royal Government's efforts to resolve border tensions through “wisdom, peace, and non-violence.”

He acknowledged the severe hardships faced by the displaced, including a lack of shelter, food, clean water, and access to education for children.

The lawmakers provided immediate humanitarian assistance to all 400 families. 

Each family received a package containing instant noodles, a sarong, a krama (traditional scarf), drinking water, and 50,000 Riel (approximately US$12.50) in cash.

According to local authorities, the displacement was triggered on the afternoon Nov. 12 afternoon, when the Thai military opened fire in the area of Prey Chan village. The incident resulted in one civilian fatality and three others injured.
