AKP Phnom Penh, November 12, 2025 --
Cambodia’s Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS) has reaffirmed the Royal Government's robust commitment to eradicating online fraud, emphasising strengthened institutional mechanisms and enhanced international cooperation during a meeting with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Cambodia.
On Nov. 11 afternoon, H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith, Senior Minister and Chairman of the CCOS Secretariat, met with H.E. Dominic Williams, the British Ambassador to Cambodia, to detail the nation’s proactive approach.
H.E. Santepundit Sinarith outlined the Royal Government’s determination to tackle technology-enabled fraud, highlighting the establishment of the CCOS. He explained that the Commission serves as an additional coordinating mechanism, working alongside existing agencies to facilitate and urge sub-national authorities to take direct responsibility for preventing, detecting, and disrupting fraud originating within their respective jurisdictions.
The Chairman of the CCOS Secretariat reviewed recent operational results and underscored the critical importance of international cooperation. This cooperation, he stressed, is vital for disrupting criminal methods and dismantling the networks and agencies involved in technology-facilitated fraud through joint investigations, information-sharing, and the exchange of best practices.
In response, H.E. Dominic Williams commended the Cambodian government’s initiative in establishing the CCOS and expressed satisfaction with the deepening bilateral relationship. He affirmed the United Kingdom’s interest in expanding cooperation across multiple sectors to support Cambodia’s sustained development and resilience.
H.E. Ambassador specifically indicated his intention to strengthen ties with the CCOS to promote reciprocal assistance in countering online fraud.
The meeting concluded with both parties discussing next steps for cooperation and capacity building, aimed at improving the overall effectiveness and outcomes of joint efforts to combat technology-facilitated fraud.
